This event is now full, please check with the organisers for cancellations

WELCOME

Our very experienced senate team are absolutely delighted to welcome you to our “Salt of the Earth” weekend.  You will enjoy excellent company in the beautiful Cheshire country side with relaxation, fellowship, enlightenment and fun

YOUR INVITATION

Come, enjoy amongst other things, one of the “Seven Wonders of the Waterways” at the mighty Anderton Boat Lift. It is also known as the Cathedral of the Canals. We will enjoy time on the River Weaver and then actually go on the historic boat lift.  This lift transformed the means of transportation of industrial boats and barges from the River Weaver up to the Trent & Mersey Canal in the 1800s.

This was an essential invention for transporting the all-important product of Salt from the Cheshire Salt mines out to the big wide world. The raw salt was then converted into the common salt we used and know so well. It is said the Cheshire salt industry was established by the Romans over 2000 years.
We will be visiting the Lion Salt Works which demonstrates how our salt is converted from the raw product to what we know on our dining room tables.

YOUR PROGRAMME

Arrive on the afternoon / evening of Friday 9th September for our usual social gathering with dinner in the evening.
