A unique Lake District destination for our October weekend.

The October Weekend is a rare and unique opportunity to visit and enjoy the hospitality at an architecturally influential lakeside country house known as Broad Leys, with links to water speed record breaking, Beatrix Potter and even Hercule Poirot!  We can explore the house and grounds at our leisure which will also be our venue for Friday supper, Saturday lunch and evening dinner.  On Saturday morning you can visit nearby attractions Blackwell or the Motor Museum or if you wish do your ‘own thing’.  In the afternoon we will take a boat trip on Lake Windermere departing and returning from the jetties at Broad Leys.

Friday afternoon – come along to Broad Leys from 3.30pm (optional) for a welcome cuppa and enjoy a wander around the house and gardens. We can open the bar if you fancy a cold drink or a livener! If we are lucky with the weather, maybe we can sit outside on the terrace.   Alternatively, if you are short of time, come directly to Broad Leys on Friday evening and enjoy a one or two course supper (7.30pm onwards).

Saturday morning – we can visit nearby Backwell, a beautifully preserved example of Arts and Crafts architecture with its stunning stained-glass windows and handcraft features designed by Mackay Baille Scott.  If you prefer to peruse transport of yester year then you could visit the Motor Museum at Ulverston.  (On 7^th October there’s a Classic Ride & Drive Day so there will be lots of additional vehicles to take a look at).  With many other local attractions nearby, you may opt to do your ‘own thing’

Saturday lunch and afternoon – returning from your various visits in the morning to Broad Leys for 1 to 1.30pm will leave us enough time to have a natter and a light(ish) lunch before departing from the Broad Leys jetties at 3pm prompt to have a one-hour cruise on Lake Windermere.  If the weather is inclement, don’t worry we can sit under cover on the lower deck.  When we return you can have a quick drink (if you wish) before calling back to change at your chosen accommodation.  Oh, and yes there is a bar on board the boat!

Saturday evening – Back to Broad Leys at 7 for 7.30 to enjoy dinner, the evening will last as long as you wish or until the bar runs dry!

To those who have made an expression of interest and or confirmed accommodation reservations, thank you, would you be so kind to complete the on-line booking form and pay a deposit (50%). Anyone who has not reserved accommodation, here are the accommodation suggestions.  Having read more info on the visit, I hope we can persuade others to join us.   Broad Leys can only accommodate a certain number though, so please book asap as places are now limited!
